ST. AUGUSTINE –
Carley Tepel led the Saints with another high scoring performance with 8 goals to help No. 10 (IWLCA Division 2 Top 25) Flagler College in their 18-8 win over the University of Alabama-Huntsville, Saturday afternoon.
The Saints advance to 14-2 overall and 4-0 in conference play, earning their 12th straight conference win going back to the 2023 season. The Chargers move to 10-6 and receive their first conference loss this season.
The Chargers earned the first goal of the game but was quickly returned with a goal by
Carly LaFerriere to tie it. The Saints ended the first quarter up 3-2 with a goal from
Sydney Onega, assisted by
Carley Tepel, and one from
Ella Pinder.
Flagler's strong offense outscored UAH 4-2 in the second quarter with two goals from
Tristan Usher, another from Onega and Tepel's first of the game. The Chargers were able to close the gap and make it a one goal game in the third quarter. Three goals from Tepel put the Saints ahead 11-6, then two more made it 13-7 to end the quarter.
The Saints finished the game 18-8 after two more goals from Tepel, two from LaFerriere and one from Pinder added to their lead in the fourth quarter.
Three Saints earned four points on the day: Pinder, LaFerriere and Onega.
Tristan Usher added five points with three goals and two assists, while Tepel led with 9 points on the day.
Despite falling short, Isadora Springer scored three for UAH. The Chargers goalie Tori Ryan made 8 saves.
The Saints defense performed well with
Kaelyn Figueras leading with four caused turnovers and three ground balls.
Molly Sloan added two caused turnovers and two ground balls for the Saints as well. Goalie
Lauren Ribadeneira made 7 saves and collected three ground balls.
The Saints will hit the road and head to Cleveland, Tenn. to play Lee University on April 20.
