ST. AUGUSTINE – No. 6 (ITA Collegiate Division II rankings) Flagler College coasted to a 7-0 win over No. 41 Belmont Abbey College in a non-conference men's tennis match Friday afternoon at the Pollard Tennis Center.
Flagler won its third match in a row and improved to 7-2 overall. Belmont Abbey dropped to 12-8. The Saints will take on Wayne State University tomorrow at the USTA National Tennis Center in Orlando, Florida at 2 p.m.
The Saints won all three doubles matches by the same score, 6-3. No. 30-ranked
Ilian Borlee and
Baptiste Mercier improved to 5-1 with their win at No. 2 doubles.
Philipp Lemken and
Simon Malis improved to 4-2.
Jacopo Denitto and
Max Berner evened their record at 3-3.
Flagler dominated singles play winning all but two matches in straight sets. Borlee won his fifth match in a row with a 7-5, 6-0 victory over Zak Vince. Mercier, ranked No. 3 in the nation, improved his dual match record to 7-2.
