ST. AUGUSTINE – No. 2 (ITA Collegiate Division II rankings) Flagler College rolled to a 4-0 win over No. 20 Midwestern State University in a non-conference men's tennis match Friday afternoon at the Pollard Tennis Center.
Flagler extended its winning streak to six and improved to 10-2 overall. The Saints have shutout three-of-their-last-four opponents. Midwestern State dropped to 4-7. Flagler returns to the courts next Friday (March 22) when it hosts Lynn University at 3 p.m.
The Saints got off to a quick start when
Jacopo Denitto and
Max Berner cruised to a 6-1 win and then No. 21-ranked
Ilian Borlee and
Baptiste Mercier secured the team point with a 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles.
Mercier, ranked No. 2 in singles, triumphed over Germano Setti 6-2 and 6-2. Denitto, ranked No. 8, bested No. 41 Luis Diaz Argente 6-4 and 6-4. No. 57
Philipp Lemken clinched the match with his 6-4, 6-4 win over Bruno Sanchez.
