WINGATE, N.C. –
Jordan Berglin recorded her 11
th double-double of the season with 23 kills and 16 digs as No. 3-seed Flagler College had its season come to an end in a 3-2 (25-23, 18-25, 28-26, 27-29, 11-15) loss to No. 2-seed Lander University Saturday afternoon in a semifinal match of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional at the Cuddy Arena and Thomas Koontz Family Court.
Flagler ended its season with a 15-11 overall record. Lander improved to 22-5 and will face top-seed Wingate University in the regional final tomorrow at 3 p.m.
Berglin finished with a .231 hitting percentage as she had eight errors on a career-high 65 swings.
Molly Boyd hit .417 with 18 kills and three errors on 36 swings. She added three total blocks to her line.
Clare Sheedy tallied 53 assists and had three aces.
Lexi Basler paced the defense with 23 digs.
Cassidy Bloom collected 18 digs while
Amelia Fitzpatrick added 13 more.
Katie Miller led the Bearcats with 33 kills and 20 digs. She finished with a .381 hitting percentage. Madde Blake added a double-double with 18 kills and 12 digs. Lauren Dow tallied 61 assists and added 15 digs. Blondie Penaflor and Olivia Dow each had five total blocks.
In the fifth and final set, the Bearcats jumped out to a quick 6-3 lead prompting a Saints timeout. Flagler rallied back to tie the score at 8-all after a Berglin kill. Lander scored the next three points and never looked back. Boyd had four kills and .500 in the final set while Berglin had three kills and .429. Blake had four kills for the Bearcats and hit .571. Lander hit .391 with 11 kills and two errors on 23 swings.
UPDATE: The Southeast Regional All-Tournament Team was announced after the regional final on Sunday. The team is listed below:
