Molly Boyd, and junior setter
Clare Sheedy were selected as American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II All-America honorable mentions in release this morning by AVCA officials.
The Flagler volleyball program has produced three All-Americans in Olivia Snipes (2011), Sara Davis (2016 and 2017), and Taja Valmyr (2017). Berglin, Boyd, and Sheedy joins Katie Beale (2009), Meg Weathersby (2010), Dianna Craine (2011 and 2012) and Kennedy Muff (2021) in receiving honorable mention honors.
Berglin has reeled in the awards this year. The Pewaukee, Wisconsin native earned all-region honors from the AVCA and D2CCA on top of being a first team All-Peach Belt Conference selection. Berglin finished in second place in the conference in kills (3.49) and points (4.04) per set. She led the team with 11 double-doubles, including her last match with 23 kills and 16 digs in the regional semifinal against Lander University. Berglin was selected as the PBC/s Player of the Week on Nov. 11.
Like Berglin, Boyd was named to both all-region teams (AVCA and D2CCA) and she also took home first team all-conference honors. The Chicago, Illinois native led the league in hitting percentage (.373), was third in kills per set (2.84) and points per set (3.66), and fourth in blocks per set (0.97). Boyd was selected as the PBC Player of the Week three times. She had a season-high 21 kills at Wingate University and had a season-best nine total blocks vs. Nova Southeastern University.
Sheedy earned honorable mention all-region honors and was a second team All-PBC honoree. The Plymouth, Indiana native led the conference in assists per set (9.71) and was third in aces per set (0.44). She was selected as the PBC Specialist of the Week five times. Sheedy had a season high 53 assists on two different occasions and had nine double-doubles. She had five aces against Georgia College and had a season-best 18 digs at USC Aiken.
Flagler completed the season with a 15-11 record and had a 5-3 mark in the Peach Belt Conference. The Saints advanced to the semifinal round of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional.
