JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –
Josiah Shackelford scored 14 of his game-high 21 points in the second half in Flagler College's 83-69 loss to Edward Waters University in a non-conference men's basketball game Tuesday night at the Adams-Jenkins Community Sports & Music Complex.
Edward Waters improved to 4-3 while Flagler fell to 4-2. The Saints open Peach Belt Conference play on Dec. 7 against Georgia Southwestern State University at 3:30 p.m. at Flagler Gym on "Alumni Recognition Day."
Shackelford came off the bench to sink 7-of-12 from the field and grab seven rebounds. He sank a team-high three 3-pointers.
Jax Bouknight added 12 points, five steals, and four assists.
Jaylen Jordon finished with 11 points and five rebounds.
Prince Davies III led the Tigers with 17 points, five assists, and four steals. Amari Floyd contributed 14 points and five rebounds while Myles Hosten chipped in with 13 points and eight rebounds. Joseph Womack, Jr. grabbed a game-high nine rebounds.
Edward Waters out-rebounded Flagler 50-29 and had a 54-32 edge in points in the paint.
The Tigers used an early 19-4 run to take a 23-7 lead over the Saints. Edward Waters led 45-32 at the half.
Flagler rallied late to close the gap to eight (77-69) after a
Hoku Fisher 3-pointer with 1:52 left in the game. The Saints couldn't get any closer.
The Tigers defense held the Saints to 17.6 percent (6-34) shooting from 3-point range.
