BOCA RATON, Fla. –
Reiss Skeen's goal in the 74
th minute was the lone tally as Flagler College lost 3-1 to No. 9 (United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25) University of West Florida in a NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Tournament first round match Friday afternoon at Bobby Campbell Stadium.
West Florida improved to 12-2-4 overall and will advance to face top-ranked Lynn University in a second round match. Flagler ended its season with a 12-5-3 record.
Marcus Pereira got the Argonauts on the board first with a goal in the 30
th minute. Jaime Guillen scored the insurance goal six minutes later.
Keegan Ancelin scored in the 67
th minute for West Florida.
Guillen and Kendrick Hernandez each had three shots for the Argonauts. Skeen led the Saints with three.
Nicholas Mecklen tallied three saves for West Florida while
Ryan Rivas finished with two for Flagler.
The Argonauts out-shot the Saints 14-8 and held a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.
