ST. AUGUSTINE – Finn Weigelt scored a pair of goals in Flagler College's 3-0 win over Georgia Southwestern State University in a Peach Belt Conference men's soccer match Wednesday afternoon at Saints Field.
Flagler improved to 6-1-1 overall and 3-1-0 in the Peach Belt. The Saints are 10-0 against the Hurricanes at Saints Field. Georgia Southwestern fell to 3-2-2 overall and 1-2-0 in conference play. Florida Tech visits Saints Field on Saturday at 6 p.m.
Weigelt got the Saints on the board first with his goal in the 12th minute. He headed in Reiss Skeen's corner kick.
He scored his second goal in the second half, when he took Marcus Hedemann's through ball at the top of the box. Weigelt drew the Hurricane keeper off the line and placed a shot into the top left corner for the insurance goal.
Toby McCallum added a goal in the 78th minute as he took the loose ball from Camilo Vera's breakup on the far sideline and dribbled in from just over the midfield line, then cut to the goal at the top of the box and ripped a shot into the back of the net.
Ryan Rivas tallied three saves and recorded his fourth clean sheet of the season. Juan Ramirez finished with three saves for the Hurricanes.
Flagler out-shot Georgia Southwestern 12-5 and had a slight edge in corner kicks (6-4).
