Flagler coasts to 49-stroke win and Stranda claims first medalist honor

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – The Flagler College women's golf team finished with a 2-over par 866 (283-288-295) to top the 13-team field at the St. Simons Intercollegiate which wrapped up Tuesday at the King & Prince Golf Club (par 72; 5,801 yards).

Flagler's 866 was the fourth-lowest 54-hole score in the program's history. The 2-over par was the third-best score relative to par. The 49-stroke margin of victory broke the record set last year, 30 stokes, at the Emerald Coast Collegiate (March 10-12, 2024). Henriette Stranda won her first collegiate tournament with a 2-under 214 (67-72-75).  

Lincoln Memorial University, the host school, finished in second place. The Railsplitters shot a 51-over 915 (309-299-307). The University of Mount Olive moved into third place with a 56-over 920 (315-305-300) while Union University (Tenn.) followed in fourth place with a 72-over 936 (310-304-322). Tusculum University and Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University tied for fifth at 76-over.

The Saints had six golfers finish in the top 10. Following Stranda in second place was Stella Jelinek. She finished just three shots back with a 1-over 217 (68-69-80). Jordyn Hodgson finished in fourth place with a 5-over 221 (76-72-73). Tabitha Hanely tied for fifth place with a 7-over 223 (72-77-74). Bhoomi Jagtap made her collegiate debut and finished in a tie for seventh place with an 8-over 224 (76-75-73). Victoria Veator, playing as an individual, tied for 10th place with a 10-over 226 (77-77-72), which was a career-best.      

Dilyara Bulambayeva of Lincoln Memorial finished in third place with a 4-over 220 (76-73-71). Lucie Levet of Mount Olive tied for fifth place with a 7-over 223 (76-74-73).

Shanya Arasu, who played as an individual, finished in a tie for 17th place with a 14-over 230 (75-79-76).

Stranda led the field with 13 birdies and Jelinek was not far behind with 11. Jagtap was second in the tournament with 37 pars. Veator had one of four eagles in the tourney. She recorded in today's final round on the par-5, 456-yard No. 14 hole.

Flagler hosts the 21st annual Flagler Fall Slam, Oct. 21-22, at the Marsh Creek Country Club.
