Five Saints earn academic all-conference honors

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Five Flagler College women's soccer players were named to the Peach Belt Conference's Team of Academic Distinction presented by Barnes & Noble College, as released by conference officials this morning. Moa Arlebo, Jess Leach, Eilidh McHattie, Maddie Poole, and Arianna Silva were are all honored.

To be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team's events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at his or her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility. The PBC Sports Information Directors oversee the program.

Arlebo, a junior midfielder, graduated summa cum laude in business administration with an economics minor. She earned her third academic all-conference honor and is a three-time PBC Presidential Honor Roll Gold Scholar. The Örebro, Sweden native started all 17 matches she played in and scored two goals and tallied two assists. Arlebo was a first-team all-conference selection.

Leach, a junior forward, is a sport management major and is a psychology minor. This was her third academic all-conference honor. She is a three-time PBC Presidential Honor Roll Gold Scholar. The Reading, England native played in 18 matches and she started 11. Leach was third on the team with 11 points after scoring three goals and tallying five assists.  

McHattie, a senior forward, graduated this fall with a degree in business administration. This is her first academic all-conference award and she was a PBC Presidential Honor Roll Gold Scholar last year. The Alford, Scotland native played in 14 matches and scored one goal to go along with one assist.

Poole, a junior defender, is in the honors program and is majoring in political science and history. She is a two-time PBC Presidential Honor Roll Gold Scholar and has earned her third academic all-conference honor. The Lexington, South Carolina native started all 19 matches, scored a goal, tallied four assists, and logged 1,591 minutes on the field.

Silva, a sophomore defender, is in the honors program and is majoring in criminology with a psychology minor at Flagler. She was a PBC Presidential Honor Roll Gold Scholar last year and this is her first academic all-conference honor. The North Arlington, New Jersey native played in 18 matches with 17 starts and she had one assist.

Flagler wrapped up its season unbeaten with an 11-5-3 overall record and a 6-1-2 mark in the Peach Belt.
