Saints record third consecutive shutout Wednesday

AIKEN, S.C. – Andrea Fernandez scored two goals as No. 11 (United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25) Flagler College blanked USC Aiken 3-0 in a Peach Belt Conference women's soccer match Wednesday afternoon at Pacer Pit.

Flagler, which recorded its third consecutive shutout, improved to 4-0-2 overall and 1-0-1 in the Peach Belt. USC Aiken dropped to 1-3-0 overall and 0-2-0 in conference play.

After a scoreless first half, Fernandez scored the first of her two goals when she converted a penalty kick in the 72nd minute. Just eight minutes later, she scored again when she knocked in a rebound off Presley Ancheta's original shot.

Lirios Rizo capped the scoring with her goal in the 89th minute.

Fernandez finished with 10 shots to lead the Saints.

Henley Grunst recorded her fourth shutout in six matches. She had one save. Kaydence Moore finished with 10 saves for the Pacers.

Flagler outshot USC Aiken 24-2 and held an 8-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Flagler stays on the road to face No. 18 University of North Georgia on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the UNG Soccer Complex.
