No. 18 Flagler opens the season by finishing in a tie for ninth place

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The No. 18 (WGCA Division II Top 25) Flagler College women's golf team shot a 47-over par 911 (307-301-303) and finished in a tie for ninth place at the NCAA Division II South Regional Preview, which ended Tuesday afternoon at Cleveland Country Club (par 72; 6,206 yards).

No. 3 Nova Southeastern University started the day in fourth place and shot a 289 in the final round to win by eight strokes. The Sharks finished with an 883 (291-303-289). No. 7 Anderson University and No. 11 Lee University, the host school, tied for second place with an 891. The leader coming into today, No. 2 Lynn University, finished in fourth place with an 892. No. 13 Limestone finished in fifth place with a 902. There were seven teams in the field ranked in the WGCA Top 25.

Ellen Andersson of Nova Southeastern University led the 90-woman field wire-to-wire and finished with a 2-under 214 (69-72-73). She edged out two golfers by one stroke.

Flagler's Stella Jelinek finished in a tie for 11th place with a 6-over 222 (76-74-72). Henriette Stranda carded an 11-over 227 (77-74-76) and finished in a tie for 23rd place. Jordyn Hodgson tied for 30th place with a 13-over 229 (75-77-77). Sophie Wheeler (79-78-78) and Victoria Veator (81-76-78) tied for 53rd place with a 19-over 235. Shanya Arasu who played as an individual, ended with a 17-over 233 (81-77-75).

Next up for the Saints is the Golfweek D2 Fall Invitational Oct. 2-3 at Destin, Florida.
