ST. AUGUSTINE – The Flagler College volleyball team looks to continue their success this season under the helm of head coach Skylar Lopas. The Saints add new faces to the team with six freshman and four transfers joining the eight returners.  
 
Lopas begins his second season as head coach with the Saints. In his first season, he led the program to it's first Peach Belt Conference Tournament championship since 2017 and an appearance in the NCAA Division II Southeast Region final.  
 
Among the returnees, four of those were starters last season, including the all-conference and all-region honoree Jordan Berglin. The junior outside hitter posted 333 kills, 245 digs and 41 total blocks last season. Other notable returners are senior libero Edie Lamoreaux and junior middle hitter, Molly Boyd. Lamoreaux led the conference in service aces with 53 last season. Boyd was in the top five in the conference for hitting percentage and total blocks, posting a .282 hitting percentage and 113 total blocks.  
 
Coming off the success of last season, Flagler was picked to finish in second place in the conference coaches' preseason poll. Jordan Berglin was named to the preseason all-conference team.  
 
The Saints have been the PBC regular season champions eight times with seven PBC tournament championships (2009, 2010, 2011, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2022). Flagler has also made three NCAA Division II Elite 8 appearances, including a final four appearance in 2009. 
 
Flagler opens the season tomorrow (Sept. 1) at the FSC Volleyball Classic against No. 17 Washburn University (AVCA) at noon. The home opener is Sept. 8 against Converse College in the Flagler Saints Classic at 1 p.m. at Flagler.
