ST. AUGUSTINE –
Tyler Douglass scored five goals and
Logan Tobias added four more to help Flagler College edge the University of Montevallo 15-13 in a Peach Belt Conference Tournament semifinal game Sunday afternoon at the Flagler Lacrosse Field.
Flagler improved to 7-9 overall and will head to Greenwood, South Carolina on Saturday (May 6) to take on top-seeded Lander University in the championship game. Montevallo ended its season with an 11-7 overall record.
Geraint Shaw and Douglass gave the Saints and early 2-0 lead. Douglass capped the scoring in the first half and gave Flagler an 8-6 lead going into the break.
Tobias' goal with 8:53 left in the game gave the Saints a 14-10 lead and Flagler withstood a late Falcons' push.
Shaw finished with a pair of goals and two assists while
Trace McDonald tied a school record with five assists.
Jake Griffin picked up eight ground balls while
Nate Lehr was spectacular in goal with 18 saves.
Scott Friant, Zach Laberge, Chaiton Williams, and Connor Frederick each scored two goals for Montevallo. Gerry York and Cole Tenger both picked up five ground balls. Alex Egorshin finished with 14 saves.
