COLUMBUS, GA.- A home run from
Cassidy Crump and
Mackenzie Smith was not enough to win against Young Harris College in Flagler College softball team's second game of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament at Cougar Field.
The Saints (18-33, 13-4) closed out the 2023 season with a 6-3 loss against the Mountain Lions (19-30, 10-17). Young Harris was also eliminated from the tournament with their loss (9-8) against Lander University this afternoon.
Courtney Robinson put the Saints on the board in the third inning with a single to plate
Jordan Moss.
In the sixth inning, Crump hit her seventh home run of the season to right center. Smith followed with her eighth home run of the season to put the Saints within three at 6-3.
Rachel Hester (6-11) took the loss after pitching one inning, giving up two hits and two runs. The sophomore walked one batter and had one strikeout.
Madelyn Wise tossed four innings and gave up six hits and two runs. The junior walked two batters and had one strikeout.
Jordan Sheets pitched two innings and gave up three hits and two runs.
Young Harris started the scoring early in the first inning with a double from Hannah Carey to allow Grace Young to score. In the fifth inning, Young hit a two-RBI home run to put the Mountain Lions up 3-1.
Young Harris added three runs in the sixth inning, collecting a home run and two singles to plate Bailee Brown and Amber Divine.
Kylie Ferguson (8-15) tossed five innings and was credited the win. Ferguson gave up one hit and one run.
