HUNTSVILLE, Ala. –
Antanas Mikuzis scored the game winning goal in overtime at Flagler College defeated The University of Alabama in Huntsville 13-12 this afternoon in the final regular season finale at Charger Park.
The Saints now sit 3-1 in PBC play and 6-9 overall. Flagler secured the No. 2 seed in next week's conference tournament and will host the winner of the Young Harris College-UAH game on Sunday at 4 p.m. The Chargers drop to 2-3 in PBC and 9-6 overall. UAH will be the No. 4 seed and will take on No. 5 Young Harris College on Friday at Greenwood, South Carolina.The University of Montevallo will head to St. Augustine to take on Shorter University in a first round game Friday at 7 p.m.
The Saints started out strong leading 5-2 at the end of the first quarter. The Chargers managed to close the gap scoring four goals in a row before Mikuzis scored the first of his two goals to tie it up 6-6 to end the half.
The Saints and Chargers kept it close the entire game with
Logan Tobias's fourth goal of the game tied it up for the Saints bringing it to 12-12 at the end of regulation.
The Chargers were led by Brody Phillips who scored four goals in today's game along with goalie Max Keller who shined with 16 saves.
Not only did Tobias and Mikuzis lead the Saints today, but goalie
Nate Lehr came out of today's game with eight saves.
Jake Griffin won 11 faceoffs and lead the team with six groundballs.
