COLUMBUS, Ga. – No. 8 (ITA Collegiate Division II rankings) Flagler College cruised to a 4-0 win over No. 47 Young Harris College in a first round match of the Peach Belt Conference Men's Tennis Tournament Friday afternoon at the John W. Walden Tennis Center.
Flagler improved to 15-5 overall while Young Harris wrapped up its season with a 10-11 record. The Saints advance to the semifinal round where they will face No. 16 Lander University at 11 a.m.
Pavlos Parson and
Philipp Lemken along with
Jacopo Denitto and
Petr Cervinka each won their doubles matches 6-3 to give Flagler an early 1-0 lead.
The Saints won the three necessary singles matches to clinch in straight sets.
Fernando Bulnes rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 6. No. 27-ranked
Nikita Tatyanin triumphed at No. 1, 6-2 and 6-2. Lemken's win at No. 4 ended the match. He extended his winning streak to seven matches.
