YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The No. 5 (ITA Division II Collegiate Tennis Rankings) Flagler College women's tennis team triumphed over Young Harris College 6-1 in a Peach Belt Conference match at the Bob and Gayle Nichols Tennis Complex Sunday afternoon.
Flagler extended its winning streak to 10 matches and improved to 12-3 overall and 3-0 in the Peach Belt. Young Harris fell to 7-9 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
The Saints won all three doubles matches to earn the first team point. The 23
rd-ranked doubles team of
Luisa Hrda and
Dana Heimen won their 10
th match in a row with a 6-0 shutout.
Flagler on five-of-the-six singles matches, all in straight sets. Hrda,
Nadja Meier, and Heimen all won their matches in succession with the latter clinching the match. Meier extended her streak to 19 consecutive matches won while Heimen won her 10
th in a row.
Laura Jipescu and
Charlotta Buss also won their matches. Buss won her 10
th match in a row.
Flagler takes on No. 8 University of North Georgia tomorrow at 4 p.m. at the UNG Tennis Complex.
