COLUMBUS, Ga. –
Jaylen Lemons pours in 27 points in Flagler College's 75-66 loss at Columbus State University in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Saturday afternoon at the Frank G. Lumpkin, Jr. Center.
Columbus State extended its winning streak to four games and improved to 13-9 overall and 6-6 in the Peach Belt. Flagler is now 11-12 overall and 5-7 in conference play.
An
Omar Figueroa layup with 7:42 staked the Saints to a 58-56 lead. But the Cougars would score then next 11-of-13 points over the next 2:42 to take the lead for good. Nelson Haskin made a pull-up jumper to tie the game and Daniel Melvin drained a 3-pointer in transition to put the Cougars ahead and they never looked back.
Haskin finished with 14 points and seven rebounds to lead Columbus State. Wisdom Uboh came off the bench to provide 12 points while Melvin finished with 11 points. Lederrius Jones tallied eight assists.
Figueroa posted 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists for Flagler.
Kyle Young added 12 points and nine rebounds.
Up next for the Saints is another conference game on Wednesday against Georgia Southwestern State University at 7:30 p.m. at Flagler Gymnasium.
