ST. AUGUSTINE – No. 7 (ITA Division II Collegiate Tennis Rankings) University of Indianapolis edged No. 5 Flagler College 4-3 in the fifth-place match of the ITA Division II National Indoor Championship Sunday afternoon at the Ernest Grundy Tennis Center.
Indianapolis improved to 8-1 while Flagler is now 2-3.
The Greyhounds won two doubles matches to take the first team point. The third match was not completed.
Laura Jipescu's straight sets win (6-2, 6-2) at No. 6 singles gave Flagler a 3-2 lead in the match, but UIndy tied the match after winning No. 5 singles. The team match came down to No. 1 singles and No. 18 Anna Novikova topped No. 6

Dana Heimen won their matches in straight sets for the Saints.
Flagler returns home to face Salem University on Friday (March 3) at 10 a.m. at the Flagler Tennis Center.
