Saints outscored by Bobcats Wednesday night

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Malik Bryant led six players in double-figures with 19 points and he grabbed a team-high eight rebounds as Flagler College lost at Georgia College & State University 101-87 in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game at the Centennial Center.

Georgia College improved to 9-17 overall and 5-12 in the Peach Belt. Flagler is now 12-16 overall and 6-11 in conference play. The Saints are now tied for seventh place in the PBC and will close out the regular season at home on Saturday against Lander University at 3:30 p.m. The top eight teams qualify for the conference tournament.

The Saints rallied from an early 18-10 deficit thanks to a 10-0 run that was sparked by a Kyle Young dunk. The two teams traded leads throughout the first half. An Omar Figueroa layup with 3:24 left in the half gave the Saints their last lead (34-33).

Chapin Rierson sank a three-pointer at the buzzer to give the Bobcats a 48-43 lead at the break.

Austin Sloan opened the second half with a short jumper and three-pointer to increase the Bobcat lead to 10 (53-43). GCSU maintained a double-digit lead for the majority of the second half.

Jax Bouknight added 16 points, four steals, three assists and three rebounds for the Saints. Spencer Bain provided 13 points and four rebounds off the bench while Figueroa and Young each finished with 12 points. Jaylen Lemons chipped in with 11 points.

Flagler shot 46.6 percent (34-73) from the field, but was held to 31 percent (9-29) from long range.

Richard Crawford scored a game-high 26 points for GCSU. He made five of the team's 15 three pointers. Rierson finished with 18 points and three steals while Sloan had 15 points and seven rebounds. Brendan Rigsbee tacked on 14 points and Christian Koneman contributed 13 points and seven rebounds.

Georgia College shot 50.8 percent (32-63) from the field and made 42.9 percent from three-point range. The Bobcats were nearly perfect at the foul line shooting 91.7 percent (22-24).
