INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – No. 1 (ITA Collegiate Division II rankings) Barry University defeated No. 4 Flagler College 4-1 in a consolation round match in the ITA National Indoor Championship Saturday afternoon at the UIndy Tennis Center.
Barry improved to 4-1 overall while Flagler is now 1-2. This was a rematch of last year's NCAA Division II National Semifinal.
Flagler earned the doubles point after Phiipp Lemken and
Pavlos Parson got by Alessandro Giuliato and Adam Lynch, 7-6(5).
Petr Cervinka and
Jacopo Denitto defeated Tim Buttner and David Rieme, 6-3.
In singles play, Denitto and
Fernando Bulnes took their opponents to three sets.
Flagler will take on rival No. 14 Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University tomorrow at 8 a.m. in the seventh-place match.
