ST. AUGUSTINE –
Omar Figueroa scored a team-high 20 points but Flagler College could not overcome a 60.7 shooting percentage from No. 15 (NABC Division II Top 25) Augusta University in a 93-71 loss in a Peach Belt Conference men's basketball game Saturday afternoon at Flagler Gymnasium.
Augusta improved to 21-5 overall and 12-4 in the Peach Belt. Flagler is now 12-15 overall and 6-10 in conference play.
The Jaguars sprinted out to a 15-8 lead and fended off a couple of Saints runs, but never trailed in the game.
Miguel Arnold led the Jaguars with a game-high 25 points on 9-of-10 shooting from the field, including a perfect 6-for-6 from three-point range. Ja'Queze Kirby added 19 points while David Viti tacked on 14 points. Darren Lucas-White came off the bench to record a double-double with 11 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Tyree Myers dished out 11 assists.
The Jaguars shot a blistering 72 percent (18-of-25) from the field in the second half.
Kyle Young came off the bench to score 14 points for the Saints.
Jax Bouknight added 11 points, five assists and three steals.
Jaylen Lemons finished with 10 points.
Flagler plays its last regular season road game on Wednesday at Georgia College & State University at 7:30 p.m.
