ST. AUGUSTINE –
Paige Churchill nets a hat trick to help No. 18 (United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25) Flagler College edge the University of South Carolina Beaufort 4-3 in a Peach Belt Conference women's soccer match Wednesday afternoon at Saints Field.
Flagler is now 9-1-3 overall and 5-1-2 in the Peach Belt. USC Beaufort dropped to 9-4-0 overall and 3-4-0 in league play.
Churchill's third and final goal, which came in the 59
th minute, as she knocked in
Maddie Poole's pass to give the Saints a 4-2 lead. Churchill also had goals in the fourth and 27
th minutes. The last Flagler player to record a hat trick was
Moa Arlebo vs. Albany State University (Oct. 23, 2021).
Arlebo added a goal and an assist for Flagler.
Samantha St. Pierre,
Andrea Fernandez, and
Presley Ancheta each tallied an assist.
Savanna Page, Jenny Hesby, and Synne Bye-Andersen each scored a goal for USC Beaufort.
Jasmine Rehberger recorded three saves for Flagler. Emily Worrell finished with eight saves for USC Beaufort.
The Saints outshot the Sand Sharks 19-11 and had a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Flagler hits the road to face Albany (Ga.) State on Saturday at 5 p.m.
