ALBANY, Ga. –
Andrea Fernandez and
Jess Leach combined to score four goals and tally five assists as No. 18 (United Soccer Coaches Division II Top 25) Flagler College romped over Albany State University 8-0 in a Peach Belt Conference women's soccer match Saturday evening at ASU West Campus Field.
Flagler improved to 10-1-3 overall and 6-1-2 in the Peach Belt. Albany State dropped to 1-12-1 overall and 0-7-1 in conference play.
Fernandez scored two goals and had three assists while Leach contributed two goals and two assists for the Saints.
Lirios Rizo got the Saints on the board in the ninth minute as she scored a goal off a Fernandez assist. Seventeen seconds later, Fernandez scored off a Leach assist.
Flagler took a 4-0 lead into the half after a goal by Leach and
Mikayla Lambert.
Paige Churchill and
Presley Ancheta had tallies in the second half while Fernandez and Leach added goals late.
Nadia Fung started in goal and recorded one save.
Madi Wright played in the second half and did not face a shot on frame. Daphne Estrada recorded 10 saves for the Golden Rams.
Flagler out-shot Albany State 45-3 and had a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Flagler plays its final regular season home match Wednesday night at 7 p.m. against No. 3 Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University at Saints Field.
