Saints and Stella Jelinek lead field after first round of the Golfweek D2 Fall Invite

SANDESTIN, Fla. – The No. 18 (WGCA Division II Top 25) Flagler College women's golf team leads the 11-team field after the first round of play of the 54-hole Golfweek Division II Fall Invitational. They shot a 5-over par 289 at the Raven Golf Club (par 71; 5,802 yards). The second round is tomorrow at 7:30 a.m., but the Saints won't tee off until 9:45 a.m.

Flagler's Stella Jelinek leads the 59-woman field with a 2-uner 69. She is one of only two golfers to break par. Jelinek had five birdies in today's round, which is tied for the most in the field. She holds a one-stroke lead over Yuliana Yapur of Texas A&M International University. Another Flagler golfer, Henriette Stranda, is in third place with an even par 71, which is a season-best round.

Trailing Flagler in the team standings is Texas A&M International, who sits eight shots back.

Sophie Wheeler carded a 3-over 74 and is in a tie for sixth place. Jordyn Hodgson is in a tie for 12th place with a 4-over 75 while Shanya Arasu is in a tie for 22nd place with a 6-over 77.
