Box Score SUMTER, S.C. - The Flagler College men's tennis team competed at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Division II Southeast Regional Championships that were held Sept. 23-26.
In singles,
Fernando Bulnes,
Philipp Lemken,
Pavlos Parson,
Nikita Tatyanin and
Jagger Ong-Patzwald all picked up wins in the round of 64 to advance to the round of 32.
In the round of 32, Parson defeated Luka Brown in three sets (4-6, 7-6(3), 7-5) to advance to the round of 16. Ong-Patzwald joined Parson in the round of 16 after winning in straight sets (7-5, 6-2) against Chimo Minguez Ribera. Parson fell in the round of 16 to Hugo Regner (4-6, 1-6) while Ong-Patzwald fell to Joaquin Benoit (3-6, 3-6).
In doubles, the Saints powered through their opponents with the pairs of
Cedric Holzmann/Bulnes, Lemken/Parson and Tatyanin/Ong-Patzwald all advancing to the quarterfinals. Holzmann and Bulnes defeated Joaquin Benoit and Cole Brainard, 8-6, to advance to the doubles semifinals. Holzmann and Bulnes fell 8-3 in the semifinals to Tommaso Schold and Pietro Martinetti.
The men's tennis team has almost a month-long break from fall competition before returning to action Oct. 21-23 for the Southeastern Invitational held in Lakeland, Florida.
