COLUMBUS, Ga. – The No. 11 Flagler College women's tennis team lost a total of 10 games across all completed matches in a 4-0 sweep of No. 61 Lander University in the first round of the Peach Belt Conference Tournament at the John W. Walden Tennis Center Friday afternoon.
The two teams met in the regular season on April 20, in which resulted in a Flagler 6-1 victory.
In doubles, and All-PBC first team, No. 8
Eden Schlagenhauf and
Luisa Hrda handed their opponents a 6-2 loss. The opening point was secured at third doubles as
Addison Skye Breunich and
Anika Nissen posted the same result as first doubles to give the Saints a 1-0 lead headed into singles play.
Flagler took control of singles immediately, and concluded the match in swift fashion. The first doubles team both scores singles wins with No. 5 Hrda staying undefeated in PBC Tournament singles matches — winning her first three dating back to last year —taking down Chiara Gerbino, 6-3, 6-2. Schlagenhauf cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 victory; meanwhile, Nissen's consistent play did not stop here, with the All-PBC first team singles player winning 6-1, 6-0 at fourth singles.
Third-seeded Flagler will take to the courts tomorrow for a rematch with the second-seeded University of North Georgia at noon.
