DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The Flagler College women's track and field team put the Peach Belt Conference on notice following its debut at the Peach Belt Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championship Friday.
Head coach
Brian Beil's squad opened the meet, with the 10000m race, just as well as he could have asked.
Therese Schuhenn took home first place, which earns her First Team All-PBC, with a time of 39:04.77. She was 12 seconds ahead of second place, teammate
Jessie Mescal, who crossed the finish line with a time of 39:16.16, which earns her Second Team All-PBC honors.
Enola Savel came in fourth — just barely being bested by the University of North Georgia's Karmen LaRoy by .07 seconds — for a time of 39:19.26. The other Saint to cross the finish line was
Riley Carter, who recorded a time of 43:17.77.
The other event that Flagler had a presence in was the 1500m later in the day. Flagler finished in seventh, eighth and ninth, with
Marissa Kempf (4:49.39),
Megan Churchill (4:52.00) and
Monika Kubai (4:53.29) making up the trio.
Olivia Farley posted a time of 5:04.98, while
Sam Gayton finished her race with a time of 5:06.62.
Isabella Santeufemio recorded a final time of 5:14.43.
Madison Peele rounded out the Flagler contingent with a time of 5:16.50.
Flagler will return to the
ERAU Track Complex for day two of the event tomorrow, competing in 5000m, 4x100 relay, 400m, 800m, 3000m steeplechase and the 4x400 relay.
