Men's lacrosse earns first win in dominating fashion

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – It will be a night to remember for the Flagler College men's lacrosse team as it earned its first victory in the program's young history, defeating Young Harris College, 22-7, in the Saints' Peach Belt Conference opener at the Flagler Lacrosse Field Saturday Night.

The win moves Flagler to 1-10 on the year, while Young Harris falls to 0-10.

The victory also serves as head coach Brian Duncan's first win as a collegiate head coach.

It became clear early that the illusive first win would come, and Drew Flagg made sure of it. He recorded a hat trick in the first two minutes and 15 seconds, giving Flagler a 3-0 lead that it would never lose. Ty Tom and Thomas Pritchard followed Flagg up with goals of their own before Flagg once again found the back of the net. Willy Bateman and Jackson Krasney added one goal apiece after Flagg's fourth of the quarter before YHC got on the board, with the first quarter ending, 8-1 Flagler.

The eight goals in the first quarter are the most goals the team has scored in a single period all season.

In the second quarter, Stone Foster scored his first collegiate goal off an assist from Jake Griffin and the goals kept on coming.

When it was all said in done, Flagler got goals from a season-high 13 different players. Flagg posted a double hat trick, while Colten Reynolds, Pritchard, Parker Collins, Geraint Shaw all added two. Dylan Wilson, Ty Tom, Krasney, Bateman also added one. Robert Ernst, Foster, Collins, Aaron Habisch and Braeden Forrest all scored their first collegiate goals tonight.

Tim Russell earned the victory while allowing three goals and making four saves.

The Saints offense took 57 shots, with 36 of them being on goal. Flagler picked up 49 ground balls while winning 23 total faceoffs.

Flagler continues conference play next Saturday, April 9th with a trip to Rome, Georgia for a matchup with Shorter University at 12 p.m.
