No. 13 Flagler falls to No. 5 Columbus State

ST. AUGUSTINE — The No. 13 Flagler College women's tennis team fell short in a Peach Belt Conference match versus No. 5 Columbus State Cougars, 5-2, Tuesday morning at the Flagler Tennis Center.

The Saints are now 11-6 on the season as they suffered their first conference loss, 3-1. The Cougars move to 17-4 on the year and stay perfect in PBC play at 7-0.

Flagler lost the opening doubles point for the first time since ITA National Indoors, losing at first and third doubles. Flagler picked up a win at second doubles behind Anika Nissen and Alessandra Traub, posting a 6-2 win for the pair's ninth consecutive win.

In singles play, Flagler got wins at first singles and fourth singles. No. 5 Luisa Hrda took down No. 9 Neila Trklja in straight sets, 7-6 (3), 6-1 for Hrda's third win against a nationally-ranked opponent and fourth straight victory. Nissen continued her stellar season, winning her 14th match in a row with a 6-2, 6-2 win.

Flagler looks to return to the win column tomorrow against No. 57 Lander University at the Flagler Tennis Center at 12 p.m.
