Saints open GSC play with victory at Young Harris

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Flagler College women's lacrosse team opened its first foray in Gulf South Conference play with a victory over Young Harris College, 13-7, at YHC Soccer and Lacrosse Field Saturday afternoon.

"Very proud of the way the team came out to play today." Head coach Grant Kelam had to say following the win, "We want to keep making positive moves forward as we get deeper into our conference schedule."

Sophia DeSimone got the Flagler offense going with her 12th goal of the year two minutes into the contest. Taylor Greenberg responded for Young Harris, netting her 33rd goal of the year, and the first of three on the afternoon to tie the game. Flagler concluded the first quarter with a 2-1 lead thanks to a Kenzie Dillon goal with 1:45 left.

In the second quarter, Greenberg netted a man-down goal to tie the game at two. Katie Stubits gave Flagler the lead again with just under 11 minutes left but Greenberg tied it up again at 3. Flagler scored the final four goals of the quarter to send Flagler into halftime with a 7-3 lead.
