DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. –
Malik Bryant scored a game-high 24 points on 10-of-15 shooting in Flagler College's 82-67 loss to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in a non-conference men's basketball game Wednesday night at the ICI Arena.
Flagler is now 2-3 on the season while Embry-Riddle improved to 2-0.
The Eagles used a 23-4 run midway through the second half to pull away from the Saints. Consecutive baskets by Malcolm Whitlow broke a 53-all tie and started the run. A Nikola Jerotic layup capped the 9-minute, 20-second run and gave Embry-Riddle its largest lead 76-57 with 4:25 left to go in the game.
Bryant added six rebounds, four assists, two steals and a blocked shot to his line for the Saints.
Jaylen Lemons added 12 points while
Kyle Young finished with 11 points and eight rebounds.
Boom Reeves blocked three shots.
Chris Murray led the Eagles with 23 points and nine rebounds. Whitlow had 12 points and he dished out a game-high six assists. Michael McCalister grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.
The Eagles held a 51-33 edge in rebounds, and 18 of those rebounds came off the offensive glass and led to 25 second chance points.
Flagler was limited to 28.6 percent (8-28) shooting from three-point range, including making 3-of-18 in the second half.
The Saints trek to Mobile, Alabama to face Spring Hill College on Saturday at 4 p.m. Central.
