GREENWOOD, S.C. –
Jaylen Lemons led five players in double figures with a game-high 28 points and he dished out five assists as Flagler College rolled to a 110-90 victory over Anderson University in a men's basketball game in the Southeast Challenge Saturday afternoon at the Finis Horne Arena.
Flagler evens its record to 2-2 on the season while Anderson remained winless at 0-2. The Saints take on arch-rival Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Wednesday at 6 p.m. at ICI Arena in Daytona Beach.
"This win goes to everyone," said Flagler men's head basketball coach
Blake Selland. "We had multiple guys like Tyler (Collier) and Omar (Figueroa) step up for us. We talked about having a tough chin the entire game, and we did."
Malik Bryant added 25 points and seven rebounds while Jax Bouknight scored all 15 of his points in the second half. Kyle Young chipped in with 14 points and nine rebounds. Tyler Collier tacked on a career-high 13 points and he had four assists. Chase Fiddler blocked a career-high four shots.
The Saints shot 58.7 percent (44-75) from the field, which included a 61.8 percent clip in the second half. Flagler outscored Anderson in the paint 62-32. The Saints also cashed in 14 Trojan turnovers for 16 points.
Myles Jenkins led Anderson with 20 points and 15 rebounds. Garrett Denbow and Jacksen Greco each scored 19 points. Luke Denbow added 17 points and five rebounds.
The Saints trailed at the half 60-57, but a pair of Spencer Bain free throws gave Flagler the lead for good at 80-79 and was part of a massive 37-11 avalanche in the last 11-plus minutes of the game.
NOTE: The 110 points scored by Flagler were the most in the program's history since the team defeated the University of Puerto Rico-Mayaguez 111-88 on Nov. 28, 2015.
