Women's Soccer Barrels Past Albany State

ST. AUGUSTINE - The Flagler College women's soccer team had six different goal scorers in the 8-0 shut out against Albany State University Saturday evening. Andrea Fernandez led the Saints with three goals and an assist as Flagler improved to 9-2-2 overall and 7-1-1 in the Peach Belt Conference.
 
Andrea Fernandez scored the first two goals in the first 45 minutes of the match. Her first goal of the game came on a free kick that bounced off the crossbar and the second goal was scored on a corner kick.
 
Elke Fernandez scored the first goal in the second half on an assist from Liz Hall before Addie Meyers netted her first collegiate goal in the 50th minute to make it a 4-0 game.
 
Andrea Fernandez tallied her third goal of the day in the 54th minute on an assist from Jess Leach. Moa Arlebo, Liz Hall and Eilidh McHattie all scored respectively in the final 34 minutes to round out the 8-0 score.
 
Flagler had the advantage in shots (39-3), shots on goal (24-1) and corner kicks (11-0). Jasmine Rehberger made the lone save for the Saints while Maeva Bachmann made 16 stops for Albany State. 
 
The squad heads to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, for a non-conference match at Nova Southeastern University Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 5 p.m.
