WINTER PARK, Fla. — Déjà vu.
Days after leading the Flagler College women's soccer team to an overtime victory,
Josefine Nilsen did it again Sunday as she outran a pair of defenders and sent the golden goal past Tars' goalkeeper Elena Beasley to propel the top-ranked Saints in the 2-1 double-OT victory at Rollins College.
"Today was a hard-fought win and the third win in seven days," Flagler head coach
Ashley Martin said. "It has been a very tough stretch of games for us, but now we look forward to some well-earned rest and can turn our focus to PBC play. Josefine caused Rollins a lot of problems all game, and she came up big when we needed her. I'm extremely pleased with her start to the season and hopefully that form continues."
Not only did Nilsen score the game-winning goal but she also had the match's first in the 12th minute, handing the Saints' forward her third goal over the past two games and giving her a team-high seven points.
Annie Habeeb assisted Nilsen on the first goal while
Andrea Fernandez had the second.
In the 54th minute, Rollins (1-3) matched the score as Kayla Park scored, but it was the only goal Flagler keeper
Madison North would allow in 105 minutes behind six saves. Flagler (3-0) fired off 18 shots — led by Fernandez with six — as Nilsen and Fernandez had two shots on goal apiece of the Saints' six to Rollins' 15 shots and seven on goal.
Up Next: Flagler will have a week off before opening Peach Belt Conference play at Clayton State University Saturday, Sept. 18 at 1 p.m.
