Bobcats down Saints, 7-3

ST. AUGUSTINE – Jake Kaufman's three-run home run was not enough as Flagler College was defeated by Georgia College 7-3 in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Friday night at Drysdale Field.

Georgia College improved to 16-15 overall and 14-13 in the Peach Belt. Flagler is now 8-19 overall and 7-14 in conference play.

The Bobcats used a four-run fourth inning to build a 5-0 lead. Paul Grazzini drew a one out walk, took second on a balk, and then advanced to third on an error. He scored on Austin Holloway's infield single. A sacrifice fly by Cam Hill ended the scoring for Georgia College.

The Bobcats added single tallies in the fifth and sixth innings.

In the eighth for the Saints, Donovan Garcia was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning, and two batters later, his twin brother Griffin drew a walk. Kaufman followed with a three-run blast over the right-center field wall.

That was the lone mistake by Georgia College starter Josh Hudgins (4-3). He went the distance allowing three runs on six hits with eight strikeouts.

Holloway collected a pair of singles, scored a run, and had two runs batted in. Hill singled twice and drove in a run.

Colt Mink (2-5) allowed four earned runs on six hits in 5 1/3 innings of work. He walked five and struck out five.

Kaufman finished 2-for-5 with three RBI. Matthew Burke and Donovan Garcia each had two singles.

Flagler and Georgia College will play a 1 p.m. doubleheader tomorrow at Drysdale Field.
