GREENWOOD, S.C. — The Flagler College men's tennis team showed a lot of fight Thursday afternoon versus No. 6 Lander University as the Saints battled back from a 3-0 deficit before ultimately coming up short in the 4-3 Peach Belt Conference loss.
"We lost today 3:4 versus a top-10, nationally-ranked team in Lander," Flagler head coach Thomas Hipp said. "We played well in singles and doubles but came short. It was a really close match, and we just lacked fortune in some moments. Hopefully, we maintain the form and bounce back with a win versus Young Harris tomorrow at home."
The Saints (6-9, 3-2 PBC) will have a quick turnaround with Young Harris College coming to the Flagler Tennis Center for a 6 p.m. match. It will also be senior day for
Rasmus Jonsson.

Diego Amilibia pulled out a tie-breaking No. 2 doubles point ,but it was just after Lander (12-1, 6-1) had an identical result in their favor for No. 1 singles to secure the doubles point.
The Bearcats then won the next two points on courts three and five, but No. 23-ranked
Nikita Tatyanin won his second consecutive in straight sets and third in a row to give the Saints their first point. Even when Lander secured the match on court six, Flagler kept fighting as
Rasmus Jonsson won in No. 2 singles and
Cedric Holzmann won by retirement on court four.
