FLORENCE, S.C. — Winning its second straight and the last five of six matches, the No. 14 Flagler College women's tennis team also secured its fifth sweep and third in Peach Belt Conference play at Francis Marion University Sunday behind a 7-0 victory.
 
"It was a great way to keep going into conference play," Flagler head coach Rodrigo Puebla said. "We just need to keep being consistent with our level of play and the way we approach every match. Tomorrow, we have another test on the road versus Lander, and I hope we can come out with great energy from the beginning."
 
The Saints (10-4, 4-1 PBC) now head to Lander University for a matchup with the Bearcats at 1 p.m. Monday before heading home to prepare for the final two matches of the regular season. Flagler will host Young Harris Saturday and No. 16 North Georgia Sunday, both beginning at 10 a.m. at the Flagler Tennis Center.
 
The duos of Paloma Martinez/Eden Schlagenhauf and Florencia Massardo Brain/Alessandra Traub secured the doubles point for the Saints, and then Flagler didn't take its foot off the gas on the Kassab Courts. In straight sets, Martinez and Massardo Brain won their matches on courts No. 6 and No. 5, respectively, to put No. 31-ranked Luisa Hrda in position to clinch on court one with a pair of 6-2 wins.
 
Martinez' win was her first of the spring, while Massardo Brain won her sixth in a row and Hrda's was her second straight. Finishing off the sweep was Traub with her fourth consecutive win in No. 3 singles, while Amelie Vossgaetter and No. 24-ranked Schlagenhauf pulled out three-set wins on court four and two in that order. Like Massardo Brain, it was Vossgaetter's sixth straight win as it was Schlagenhauf's second to secure the team's fifth sweep of the season.
