Pacers use six-run second to defeat Saints

AIKEN, S.C. – Morgan Hyde's two-run single in the second led to a six-run frame and help lead USC Aiken to an 8-1 win over Flagler College in a Peach Belt Conference baseball game Friday night at Roberto Hernandez Stadium.

USC Aiken improved to 7-9 overall and in the Peach Belt. Flagler is now 5-13 overall and 4-8 in conference play.

Jackson Hannan and Nick Tripp followed with run-scoring singles in the second for the Pacers.

That would be more than enough for Daniel Wiggins (2-1) who scattered six hits and allowed one run to earn a complete game victory. He induced 14 fly outs and 11 ground outs. Wiggins retired the first seven-of-eight batters he faced.

Hyde went 3-for-5 with a run scored and three runs batted in for USC Aiken. Hannon and Tripp each went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a run batted in.

Tyler Keith went 2-for-3 with a double and he scored Flagler's lone run. Myles Colangelo collected a pair of singles.

Zach Audet (0-4) allowed four earned runs on seven hits in one and two-thirds innings pitched. Ryan Ayrey went the rest of the way in relief and fanned five.

The same two teams meet in a noon doubleheader on Saturday.
