AIKEN, S.C. – Flagler College and USC Aiken split a Peach Belt Conference baseball doubleheader on Saturday at Roberto Hernandez Stadium. The Pacers took the opener, 3-2 in 10 innings, while the Saints took game two, 4-3.
Flagler is now 6-14 overall and 5-9 in the Peach Belt. USC Aiken is 8-10 overall and in conference play.
In the opener, Jackson Hannon led off the bottom of the 10
th with a single to left. He was bunted over to second and then took third on a ground ball. Jeff Cyr followed with a walk-off single to left.
Austin Sandifar (1-0) tossed four scoreless innings in relief to earn the win. He retired 10-of-the-last-12 batters he faced.
Hannon finished with two singles, scored a run, and drove in another.
Jett Walsh (0-2) took the loss as he allowed one run on three hits in 1 1/3 innings in relief.
Kyle Morton started and fanned eight batters in 8 1/3 innings.
Adam Mitchell collected two singles and scored a run for the Saints.
In the second game, Flagler trailed 2-1 going into the fifth inning. Mitchell led off the frame with a double to right-center. Later,
Jaiden Warde's two-run double put the Saints ahead, 3-2.
Warde had an RBI single in the seventh, which provided just enough insurance for the Saints as the Pacers plated a run in the bottom of the seventh.
Colt Mink (2-3) went the distance as he scattered five hits and allowed three runs. He induced nine fly outs and 12 ground outs.
Warde finished the game 3-for-5 with the double and three runs batted in.
Jake Kaufman and
Myles Colangelo each had a single and a double.
Chase Carney singled twice.
Alex Stobert (3-1) surrendered nine hits and one earned run in five innings of work for the Pacers.
Morgan Hyde collected two singles and scored a run.
Up next for the Saints is a road trip to No. 21 (Collegiate Baseball Division II Top 25) University of North Georgia for a three-game weekend series, which starts March 26 at 5 p.m.
