Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Lambertz nets first goal at Flagler in road loss

MORROW, Ga. — The Flagler College men's soccer team didn't lack in shots, firing 16 compared to Clayton State University's 18, but the Saints didn't have the same fortune as the Lakers with shots on goal.

Clayton State netted four of their nine shots on goal, while Flagler did just once in eight tries in a tough 4-1 loss at Laker Field Sunday afternoon in Morrow, Georgia.

After the Lakers (2-2-0, 2-2-0 PBC) scored in the 59th minute to go up 3-nil, Flagler (0-2-1, 0-2-1) was able to cut into it as the 65th minute approached via a penalty kick from Max Lambertz. The PK was the first goal for the transfer Lambertz at Flagler. Before the goal, the Saints had five shots in the first 45 minutes that Laker keeper Theo Blachon was able to save, while they had two on goal in the final half.

Joran Osland and Matteo Costa led the Saints with four shots each as Osland had three on goal and Coasta had one. Jonas Schmitt and Zack Savage had two shots apiece, while Jed Bowman and Axel Nolgren had one each as well as Lambertz who was able to connect.

In goal for Flagler and starting his first match this season was Andrea Lubbia as all five of his saves came in the final 45 minutes.

Up Next: The Saints will aim to bounce back when they travel to Francis Marion University Monday, March 8 for a 6 p.m. start.
