VALDOSTA, Ga.– No. 10 (Oracle/ITA Division II Top 25) Flagler College rolled to a 7-0 victory over Valdosta State University in a non-conference women's tennis match Sunday afternoon at the VSU Tennis Courts.
"We are very happy to be taking home the win at Valdosta State," said head women's tennis coach Rod Puebla. "The girls were able to bring their "A" games and finished strong. I feel their performances are getting a lot better with each match. We are very excited to be back on the road and to compete in our first ITA Indoor Nationals."
Flagler (2-0) swept all three doubles matches as
Anika Nissen and
Amelie Vossgaetter posted a 6-1 win at No. 3.
Alessandra Traub and
Florencia Massardo Brain won by the same score at No. 2 to secure the doubles point.
Massardo Brain's win at No. 6 singles clinched the match for the Saints.
Luisa Hrda, Traub, Nissen, and Massardo Brain all won in straight sets.
Eden Schlagenhauf won after her opponent retired before the second set started and Vossgaetter won her match 4-6, 6-1, 10-7.
Flagler will compete in the ITA National Indoor Championships this upcoming weekend at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
