ST. AUGUSTINE – Flagler College used a balanced scoring attack to defeat the University of Fort Lauderdale 83-61 in a non-conference men's basketball game Tuesday night at Flagler Gymnasium.
Flagler extended its winning streak to four games and improved to 5-2 overall. Fort Lauderdale, a member of the National Christian College Athletic Association, fell to 3-7.
The Saints opened the game with a 20-4 run and never looked back. Flagler shot 58.1 percent in the first half, which led to a 45-20 advantage at the break.
Kohl Roberts scored a season-high 13 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and blocked two shots to lead the Saints.
Callum Baker and
Curtis Lewis each added 13 points.
Jalen Barr finished with 10 points, a game-high nine rebounds, three steals, and two blocked shots.
Jaizec Lottie chipped in with nine points, a game-high seven assists, and six rebounds.
Flagler forced 21 Fort Lauderdale turnovers and cashed those in for 22 points. The Saints tallied a season-best 15 steals. Flagler outscored the UFTL 46-20 in the paint. All 18 players dressed for the Saints played.
John Mason scored a game-high 15 points and corralled seven rebounds for Fort Lauderdale. Carl Bigord added 14 more while Kareem McDonald came off the bench to tack on 11 points.
Up next for the Saints is a road game against Spring Hill College on Friday. The tip will be at 7 p.m. Central.
