WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. –
Taylor Gardner led four Flagler College players in double figures with 16 points, but a strong fourth quarter led Palm Beach Atlantic University to a 77-70 win in a non-conference women's basketball game Monday evening at Rubin Arena.
Flagler had its two-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 4-2 overall while Palm Beach Atlantic won its second game in a row to improve to 2-3.
A three-pointer by
Tori Pearce gave Flagler a 65-62 lead with 3:38 left. After PBA pulled to within one (65-64), Pearce was fouled and went to the line. She made the first to give the Saints a two-point lead with 2:54 left, but missed the second shot.
Kash Ayuso made a five-foot jumper to tie the game, and it also started a 13-4 Sailfish run to end the game. PBA outscored Flagler 28-16 in the fourth quarter. Ayuso scored a game-high 22 points and added 12 rebounds. Sia Williams tacked on 15 points, five rebounds and four assists.
Palm Beach Atlantic out-rebounded Flagler 46-34 and had 19 offensive rebounds that led to 13 second chance points.
Pearce finished with 15 points, seven rebounds, and six assists for Flagler.
Sadie Russell added 14 points and nine rebounds while
Jaziana Mathis tallied 14 points and grabbed six boards.
Flagler hosts Saint Leo University on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Flagler Gymnasium.
