ST. AUGUSTINE – Flagler College got behind early and couldn't mount a comeback in a 76-54 loss to Saint Leo University in a non-conference women's basketball game Tuesday afternoon at Flagler Gymnasium.
Saint Leo improved to 3-2 on the season while Flagler is now 4-3.
The Lions scored 22 of the game's first 24 points and never looked back. The Saints whittled the deficit to 11 (60-49) after a
Jaziana Mathis layup to close out the third quarter, but couldn't get any closer.
Mathis led the Saints with 15 points and four rebounds.
Tori Pearce added 12 points and seven assists while
Sophie VanDyke came off the bench to score a career-high 10 points.
Amanda Ulrich led four Saint Leo players in double figures with 23 points. Tori Lesko recorded a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. She added six assists and four steals to her line. Ayanna Trigg chipped in with 13 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals.
Saint Leo forced 26 Flagler turnovers and scored 32 points off the miscues.
Flagler is off for Thanksgiving and returns to the court on Saturday for a 2 p.m. game against Florida Tech at Flagler Gymnasium.
