COLUMBUS, Ga. — In less than 24 hours, the fourth-seeded Flagler College women's soccer team will kick off the NCAA Southeast Regional against fifth-seeded UNC Pembroke in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at host Columbus State University's Walden Soccer Complex.
The pair of former Peach Belt Conference foes meet for the 14th time and first since the spring's PBC Tournament, which saw the eventual champions Flagler leave victorious, 2-1. The win marked the Saints' fourth straight over the Braves and extended a seven-game unbeaten streak that mirrors a 5-0-2 record in favor of Flagler. The Saints hold the 7-4-2 series advantage and haven't lost to the Braves since 2014 as the teams will face each other on a neutral field for the first time Friday.
The winner will go on to face the winner of top-seeded Columbus State/eighth-seeded University of Mount Olive Sunday at 1 p.m.
Flagler dances its way into its fourth straight NCAA Tournament appearance and first since 2019. The Saints have won nine consecutive matches, including claiming their third straight PBC championship last Sunday, and are grooving right now behind PBC Player and Freshman of the Year
Andrea Fernandez (15 goals, 12 assists) and company who placed eight on the
All-PBC team.
The Braves come into their fifth NCAA Tournament appearance as first-season Conference Carolinas champions and are riding a three-match win streak behind goal leaders Rilee Seering (14 goals) and Anna Grossheim (11 goals).
