GREENWOOD, S.C. — The Flagler College men's soccer team wrapped up its regular season Saturday afternoon, dropping a 3-1 Peach Belt Conference match at Lander University.
The Saints, who have won the last five of six matches, now turn their attention to the PBC Tournament, which will begin at home next Saturday. Stay tuned for times and an opponent that will be released in the coming days.
Out of a scoreless halftime, the Saints (9-7-0, 7-5 PBC) got on the board first in the 53rd minute. It was
Jared Fuentes' third goal of the season — via
Marc Birkelund — that put Flagler ahead for the time being. In the aftermath of the score, Fuentes received his second yellow card, which took him out of the match and left the Saints with 10 players.
Lander (10-7, 7-5) took advantage, scoring in the 66th, 67th, and 85th minute to latch onto the lead for good. The Bearcats edged the Saints in shots with nine-to-four as eight were on goal to Flagler's two.
