WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Rachel and
Rebekah Machovec each recorded 10 kills to lead Flagler College to a 3-0 (29-27, 25-16, 25-8) sweep of Lee University Friday afternoon at the South Region Crossover Tournament at the AdventHealth Fieldhouse.
Flagler (15-3 overall) extended its winning streak to 10 matches. Lee, a member of the Gulf South Conference, fell to 5-13.
Rachel Machovec added 14 digs to complete her team-leading eighth double-double of the season. She also tied her career high with four aces.
Rebekah Machovec hit .389 as she only had three errors on 18 swings.
Jordan Berglin added seven kills and six digs. She hit .353.
Kennedy Muff tallied 34 assists while
Edie Lamoreaux collected 15 digs.
Brooke Singleton added a season-best three aces.
The Flames had four players finish with five kills. Hannah Longley finished with 14 digs while Reagen Bratton tallied 20 assists.
The Saints reeled off the first six points in the first set, but the Flames rallied back to take a 15-14 lead. With the score tied at 27, Flagler took advantage of a Lee service error and Muff finished the set with a quick kill. Berglin and
Rachel Machovec each had five kills.
Muff sparked an 8-1 run in the second set that wiped out a 4-3 deficit.
Rebekah Machovec hit .600 with six kills on 10 errorless swings. Muff tallied 15 assists.
Flagler held Lee to a -.080 hitting percentage in the third set. The Saints hit a solid .296.
Victoria Bowrosen led the way with four kills.
Flagler wraps up play in the tournament with two matches. The Saints take on the University of West Alabama at 10 a.m. and then meets Christian Brothers University at 4:45 p.m.
