Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Dominant team effort secures Saints' third straight shutout win

AIKEN, S.C. — The Flagler College women's soccer team shared the love around the pitch Wednesday afternoon as four different players scored and three registered assists in a 4-0 Peach Belt Conference rout at USC Aiken.

The complete-team effort illustrated the third straight shutout victory for the 20th-ranked Saints (9-2-1, 5-2-0 PBC) ahead of a home match versus Albany State Saturday at 2 p.m., which will be Senior Day.

"Today, we started strong and controlled the game from the first minute," Flagler head coach Ashley Martin said. "We pressed Aiken well, dominated possession, and scored early."

Maria Castorino Mujica was involved early and often, assisting on the first two goals that came a minute of one another. The first was via a corner kick as it hit Brin Wexler by the near post and slid right off her head and into the net for her fourth of the season, putting the Saints ahead quick in the ninth minute.

Next, it was Jess Leach with a header herself thanks to another perfect send from Castorino Mujica. This one curved up and over everyone in the box, hitting a leaping Leach for her third goal of the season and Castorino Muijca's third assist.

Scoring her second of the season in the 37th minute, Emery Biggs' screamer came via Liz Hall and curled into the top left corner from 18 yards out to give the Saints a 3-0 lead over the Pacers (3-7-1, 2-4-1) at halftime. The fourth and final score came from Andrea Fernandez as she took a long through ball from Josefine Nilsen's second assist and deposited it into the right corner for her team-leading eighth goal.

The Saints dominated the Pacers in every facet of the match, outshooting them 28-to-1 with 15 shots on goal compared to Aiken's one. In goal, Madison North continued her clean sheet streak in 63:54 minutes played, while freshman Jasmine Rehberger logged 26:06 in relief to secure the third straight Saints' shutout.
